Eligibility and Guidelines
Eligibility
Any female-identifying student may participate in sorority recruitment.
A woman must be a regularly matriculated student, meaning she was admitted as a full-time, degree-seeking student to the University of Nevada, Reno. Students who are dual enrolled in high school and college courses cannot participate in recruitment.

Current students must be full-time, 12 credit, enrolled and degree-seeking at the University of Nevada, Reno.

The College Panhellenic does not have a GPA requirement to participate in recruitment. However, each chapter may have their own GPA standards of which you would need to meet to be granted membership.
A woman cannot participate if she has ever been initiated into another National Panhellenic Conference sorority organization.

Guidelines
Interactions with Current Members
Current members are expected to uphold high standards and respect with potential new members at all times. If you feel a current member was not respectful, or made you feel uncomfortable, be sure to tell a recruitment counselor so we may resolve the situation!

Just as we expect respect from current members, all potential new members are expected to speak with current members, other potential new members and recruitment counselors with respect and kindness. We ask that you refrain from asking questions that could lead to any uncomfortable situation such as asking about reputation, bid distribution, male fraternity relationships or other similar topics. This is the time for you to know the women and their values!
Grounds for Dismissal
The College Panhellenic reserves the right to dismiss any potential new member from the recruitment process.
The following, includes but is not limited to, are reasons for dismissal:
-
Disrespecting or sharing disparaging remarks about a chapter, current member or other potential new member
-
Missing class to attend recruitment
-
Failure to complete class conflict forms in a timely manner
-
Failure to submit recruitment registration fee
-
Encouraging a recruitment counselor to reveal her affiliation (her chapter)
-
Purposefully missing recruitment events
Membership Non-Guarantee
Please note, participating in recruitment does not guarantee membership. Although most potential new members receive membership from a sorority organization, it is not certain that every woman will be granted sorority membership.

A woman may be released from recruitment, or only matched to certain chapters due to GPA standing. Be sure to check your final High School GPA or current college GPA before recruitment. We typically recommend students to have at least a 2.5 or higher GPA for the best chance at matching with an organization.
Primary recruitment follows a mutual selection process in which a potential new member must continue to preference particular chapter(s) and that chapter or chapters must continue to preference her throughout recruitment in order to be matched to that chapter. Basically, a chapter must select a potential new member and that potential new member must select that chapter to be matched for membership.
It is possible to be matched to chapters you may not have listed as your higher preference - we encourage you to continue to meet with those organizations as all our sorority chapters have amazing women and wonderful opportunities to seek out!
