Who are Recruitment Counselors?

Recruitment Counselors, or Rho Gammas, are current sorority members who are disaffiliated from their sorority organization. Their purpose is to guide potential new members through the recruitment process, from an unbiased perspective. They are selected and trained to be the most equipped women to lead potential new members and assist the recruitment process at large.

What is Disaffiliation?

Rho Gammas are disaffiliated from their chapters. This means that they are removed from their chapter organization before and during recruitment. They will not identify with their chapter organization, wear or have on them any chapter identifying symbols or letters, or talk specifically about their sorority chapter.

Disaffiliation allows for the recruitment counselors to promote all Panhellenic sorority organizations equally. They also are able to provide unbiased assistance and support when helping potential new members make decisions. We want all potential new members to feel comfortable explaining their  choices with any Rho Gamma without fear about which chapter she may be in.

We ask potential new members to not encourage a Rho Gamma to reveal her chapter affiliation. Searching through a Rho Gamma's social media, trying to get her to reveal her chapter, or playing games to discover her chapter affiliation is not appropriate as she is disaffiliated from her organization to best help potential new members in their decision making process.

What's the Purpose of Recruitment Counselors?

A sorority recruitment counselor, also known as a Rho Gamma, is responsible for guiding and supporting potential new members through the sorority recruitment process. They provide information about each sorority, answer questions, and help potential new members make informed decisions about which sorority to join. The ultimate goal of a sorority recruitment counselor is to ensure that each potential new member finds the best fit for them within the sorority community.

All potential new members should listen to the instructions of the Rho Gammas as they will help potential new members to their events and ensure they are where they need to be!

If a potential new member has any questions at any time, a Rho Gamma will always be able to either answer the question, or find someone who can!
